Brilliantly patterned handmade papers, sparking crystals and glowing hand blown glass beads are the ingredients for these special ornaments. Peacecraft donates a percentage of the price of each crane to organizations that work to relieve children's suffering. A colorful origami crane folded from hand-made Japanese paper, each Origami Peace Crane is strung with an Austrian lead crystal heart. The paper is crafted by artisans in Japan who work out of small studios, making each sheet by hand using traditional techniques. These exquisite chests and boxes were handcrafted in Poland in the traditional Polish folk style. The art and mastery of Polish box making originates with the Highlanders of the Tatra Region of the Carpathian Mountains in the first millennium A.D. Using materials indigenous to the lushly forested regions of Southern Poland such as alder, poplar, linden and lime wood, master craftsmen create small treasures that celebrate agricultural and pastoral cultures. Each of the thirty steps needed in making each box requires a different artisan, each renowned for the deft engineering behind their well-fitting lids and distinctive art featuring nature motifs.
